Pet Portrait Commissions
In order to provide the highest quality painting of your beloved pet, I only accept a limited number of commissions per year. I would love for YOUR pet to be up next on my drawing board!
A lot of time goes into creating the final portrait-- and it all starts with a great photo! A highly detailed photo with a striking pose of your pet will make a great painting! Commission Process:
Step 1: Choosing a Photo Before officially booking a portrait, a reference photo(s) has to be agreed upon. Send as many photos as you like! Images with various angles of your pet can help to identify their unique physical characteristics during the painting process. The image needs to be of high resolution with natural lighting. Zoom in on your pet's face-- if you can see the individual hairs-- there should be enough detail for your pet's personality to come to life in watercolor! Please review the "Photo Tips" page for more information on photo submission requirements. Based on lack of detail, poor lighting, or some other disconnect-- I have the right to kindly decline the commission if I cannot visualize using watercolor to bring your pet to new life. |
Step 2: Sizes and Pricing
Select a portrait size from the available mat opening dimensions: Small: 5" x 7" Medium: 8" x 10" Large: 11" x 14" It is standard that the subject will have an empty margin around the image to allow for pleasing aesthetics and proper mounting-- unless an upgrade of a detailed background is requested. Once the painting is complete, additional prints or note cards may also be purchased to share with family and friends. *Please note- There is an additional fee for multiple pets in one painting. |
Step 3: Digital Proof
Upon agreement of a photo(s) and size, I will send you a digital proof as an example of what your final portrait will look like. After an approval is made on the digital proof, you will be notified of an approximate start and end date of your portrait. If your portrait needs to be completed by a certain date, please let me know and I will do my best to accommodate your request. Please also let me know if the commission is a gift.

Step 4: Booking and Fees
In order to book your commission time slot and to cover the cost of materials, there is a non-refundable 25% deposit -- this will be sent in an invoice via email. The average turnaround time is 4-6 weeks based on my schedule, but I am sometimes available for faster turnarounds. Any rushed pieces may have additional charges applied and will be reflected on the initial invoice. Upon completion, I will send you a picture of the painting for approval. The remaining balance is then due before shipment.
